The night is a quiet hush, full of terrors for those who seek and of immense possibilities who crave to be free. The time when creatures lurk but none to be seen yet the night beguiles the strong, more often than the weak.
In such noisy silence, do the blobs of sparkles float sent by whom though? God? Or Fate or Spirits or our own selves? Colloquially known as Dreams.
They float like strange entities with a purpose and the nets above our beds snoring all this while, waken with a purpose too.
The legend around "Dream-catcher" is an old one, where Iktomi - a teacher of wisdom appeared in the form of the spider and weaved the web of life, preaching "In each time of life there are many forces — some good and some bad. If you listen to the good forces, they will steer you in the right direction. But, if you listen to the bad forces, they will hurt you and steer you in the wrong direction.”
And so the dream catcher now alert spots the sparkly blobs for they believe they can see, and what you believe so it is.
It attempts to catch the dreams that drift by. The good dreams, pass through the opening in the centre of the webbing while the bad dreams, not knowing the way, are caught in the webbing and destroyed at the first light of the morning sun.
They say the good dreams slide down the feather to those sleeping below but I think otherwise. It makes more sense that the bad dreams that are caught in the web pass through the feathers while the good dreams "knowing their way" continue to pass through and float around freely.
If this makes sense to you, in this seemingly nonsensical argument, then are we visited by nightmares each night while it is the good dreams we happen to catch in the day? And does that make our Dream-Catchers, in fact, Dream-Snatchers?
The good dreams perhaps hover like fireflies around us, only that we cannot see, but those who can, are the lucky ones indeed.
So, next time you burn the midnight oil, keep your eyes open for our beloved dreams, floating like sparkly blobs all around, waiting for us to fall asleep, try and catch the good ones while you can because they truly are strange entities and they will come to you if only you seek.
Tho I am not a very serious reader I could feel the beauty of this art ✨
May you always see your dreams turn into beautiful reality !
No chasing- no catching ....just transforming dreams into reality....:)
