Nothing is what it seems
For we all have calls to attend
Away from the world’s eye
On each other we spy.
Everyone has fought their
Battles,
And the tales are too glorious to share
No time to spare.
First thing at dawn
We put our masks on
For we all aspire
To be well-liked king
Not a mere pawn.
While wearing our new masks
We judge the world
With our old eyes
We think we know everyone
We are the only ones to speak lies.
In this place
Conformity becomes our dearest friend.
We pretend life is simple for us
For we would rather lie and smile,
Than expose ourselves
To the unpleasant eyes of the world.
